What brought DIY Network to Atlantic, N.C., to rebuild this ramshackle 19th-century cottage was, without question, its setting — just 300 feet from Core Sound, a relatively calm inlet separated from the Atlantic Ocean by the Outer Banks. With a careful and thoughtful makeover, the team maximized the beauty and function of this choice three-acre location, while also protecting the fragile coastal environment.
