Closet Rods, Brackets and Supports

These days, you'll find more fun closet accessories at your fingertips than you could ever imagine. But sometimes, the most basic gadgets, like the closet rod, can make just the difference you need in organizing your closet.

Good closet rods, brackets and supports can make organization much easier.

Even with all of the right closet accessories and gadgets, sometimes all your space needs is a solid closet rod.

Basic closet rods include metal and wooden varieties that require minimal installation. The single most important aspect of properly installing a closet rod is making sure it is secure and able to bear the weight it will be expected to support. You must also be careful to hang it at an appropriate height that will allow longer items, like dresses, to hang properly so they won't get caught in your sliding closet doors.

Before installing a closet rod, it is best to place closet brackets in a position on the wall that allows for the most support. This will require a stud finder. Once wall studs have been located, closet rods and brackets can be screwed into the stud for optimal support.

Closet rods come in a few different shapes, including circular and oval options. No matter the choice you make, a closet rod will make a useful addition to other closet organization systems, such as shelves, drawers and hooks.
